Is it safe to take Ramipril with Pregnancy?
Ramipril and all ACE inhibitors are contraindicated in pregnancy. Exposure in the second and third trimesters causes fetal kidney failure, low amniotic fluid, poor skull bone formation, growth restriction, and can be fatal to the baby. First-trimester exposure is less clearly harmful than once believed, so accidental early exposure calls for a prompt switch rather than alarm. Blood pressure still needs treating in pregnancy — labetalol, nifedipine, and methyldopa are the standard replacements.

ACE inhibition causes fetal hypotension, anuria, oligohydramnios, pulmonary hypoplasia, calvarial hypoplasia, and renal tubular dysgenesis.
