About Metoprolol
Metoprolol is a cardioselective beta-blocker for heart conditions and blood pressure. Available as immediate-release (twice daily) and extended-release (once daily: metoprolol succinate). Do not stop suddenly.

Metoprolol and Alcohol
Alcohol can enhance metoprolol's blood-pressure-lowering and heart-rate-slowing effects — occasional moderate drinking is usually tolerated, but avoid heavy drinking.
